Coastal Engineer

Responsibilities and challenges

The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are:

  • Perform coastal processes modelling and analysis such as hydrodynamics, waves, sediment transport as needed on variety of coastal related projects using MIKE by DHI software (MIKE 21/3 HD, MIKE 21 SW, MIKE 21 MT, MIKE 21 ST).
  • The candidate will assist in writing technical reports and presentations.
  • The candidate is expected to be a team player and able to learn new skills through in-office training and continuing knowledge transfer among the team members.
  • Support the Project Manager/Team Leader in the delivery of the technical aspects of the project.

Qualifications and personal skills

Essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in in a relevant civil/coastal engineering discipline.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent analytical skills, including familiarity with analytical tool and coastal modelling tools.
  • Atleast 2-5 years related experience and good knowledge of coastal hydraulic principles.
  • Ability to conceive, organize, articulate, resource and manage complex coastal related projects/proposals, involving multiple partners and consultants.
  • Working experience on any of the MIKE by DHI software (MIKE21/3 HD, MIKE 21 SW, MIKE 21 MT, MIKE 21 ST) will be considered favorably.
  • Competent in ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS.
  • Knowledge and experience working on vessel mooring analysis/modelling is an added advantage.
  • Experience working in large, complex, international projects is added advantage.
  • Programming skills (Python or MATLAB, etc.) is required.
  • Superlative written and oral communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
