We are looking for an Environmental Consultant / Senior Environmental Consultant. We seek a confident, outgoing, organized, and self-motivated environmental professional to help drive our environmental projects forward. The role will be to project manage and provide technical environmental solutions to our clients. The role will involve running several environmental projects at a time and interfacing with clients on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for someone who can start soon.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake technical work as a terrestrial ecologist for biodiversity and environmental impact assessments, environmental management and monitoring, habitat restoration, and other environmental studies.
- Manage ecological monitoring and assessment projects, lead and undertake field surveys, monitoring and sample collection for a wide range of environmental projects; periodic weekend work as well as occasional overseas travel in the Asia Pacific region may be required
- Assist with other applied research activities and QA/QC, compilation and analysis of various survey and monitoring data
- Support for business development opportunities pertaining to nature-based solutions, habitat restoration, and other ecological projects.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Client liaison and consultations with regulatory agencies and other project stakeholders.
Education and Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience
- Degree in Environmental/Life Science or a related discipline
- Post-graduate degree in Ecology, Environmental Management or a related discipline is an advantage
- Prior experience in ecological field sampling methods, species identification, scientific writing and statistical analysis of data
- Previous project management experience in other environmental consultancies looked upon favorably.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience on working in tropical ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation and management issues
- Physically capable and medically fit to work long hours in the field in a variety of conditions
- Knowledge of environmental management, monitoring, assessment, and mature-based solutions and understanding of development projects and activities are a must-have.
- Attention to detail with good verbal, analytical and writing skills, professional presentation, and communication competencies.
- Confidence to work with different external stakeholders (e.g. developers, contractors, government agencies, NGOs, etc).
- Ability to work well independently, under pressure and demanding deadlines, as part of a team, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple projects and various stakeholders.
- Ability to work flexibly in response to project needs and deliverables that may occasionally include weekend, public holidays, and overseas travel.
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge of statistical analysis
- Self-motivated, creative, energetic, willing to learn new skills, and a keen interest in biodiversity conservation and research
