You will be working for DHI Seaport, a subsidiary of DHI.DHI Seaport is responsible for the 24/7 operational management of our cloud-based services to Ports and Waterway operators, owners and regulators. Our core service offering is our digital port solution, NCOS ONLINE - the world’s most accurate large vessel traffic management system and we are conquering the world with this right now!
Technical Environment & Challenges
Our flagship system, NCOS ONLINE, processes environmental data and hydrodynamic models to predict vessel behaviour with high precision. The system integrates multiple data sources including:
- Real-time meteorological and oceanographic data feeds
- Complex forecast models
- Vessel specifications and performance characteristics
- Port infrastructure constraints
You will be tackling several technical challenges:
- Visualizing complex data in intuitive interfaces that enable quick, informed decisions by maritime professionals
- Implementing sophisticated state management for complex user interactions to screen different levels of risk
- Developing reusable software that can be applied across many clients with varying requirements
Recently, one of our solutions was recognized with the Innovation Excellence award for Australia Infrastructure by helping optimize vessel routes, resulting in measurable emission reduction, helping to make shipping greener.
The Role
You will contribute to developing, improving, troubleshooting, and maintaining the functionality of our cloud-based solutions.
You have an analytical approach to understand and interpret complex engineering processes in backend development. Preferred candidates will have an interest in acquiring knowledge within port and maritime software solutions, especially within the operational aspect of running maritime forecast systems.
You will collaborate with a technically diverse team in our Kuala Lumpur hub, including developers, hydrodynamic specialists, and maritime experts. You have great communication skills and work effectively in agile project teams involving international colleagues.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3-5 years’ of development experience with the .NET Core stack, including C# end Entity Framework.
- Experienced in Azure DevOps tools and services to automate CI/CD build and release pipelines.
- Experience in designing and consuming RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Delivery of high-quality code utilising practices such as SOLID design principals, TDD, design patterns, code reviews, secure coding practices, source control (GIT) and unit testing.
- Sound analytical skills including problem solving abilities and interpret information.
- Ability to work and collaborate with others in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Knowledge or experience with Azure fundamentals, Hasura, Kubernetes, Docker, PostgreSQL, Linux, Jira and Terraform will be considered advantageous.
- Interested in understanding and working with maritime operational forecast systems.
