Process Modeler Wastewater Treatment (junior/senior)

DHI a.s. is seeking a talented Process Engineer, either junior or senior level, who is passionate about process modelling of wastewater treatment plants.

Our work at DHI supports clients in operating wastewater treatment plants in both economically and environmentally sustainable ways. We help them adopt innovative, more effective technologies to reduce or offset their environmental footprint. Our solutions are typically tailored to the specific needs of each client, which fosters a high degree of innovation at the beginning of every project.

These expert services are primarily driven by the revision of the European Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (EU 2024/3019) and the needs of implementing cutting-edge technologies and operating strategies, based on digital technologies.

Responsibilities and challenges

You will join a collaborative team based in our Prague office, working alongside dedicated and highly skilled colleagues, including fellow process engineers, hydraulic modellers, and a diverse group of specialists and technicians.

The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are: 

  • Handle process data collection and pre-processing in cooperation with other colleagues
  • Perform analysis of wastewater treatment processes (both municipal and industrial plants) 
  • Solve the tasks of designing and building process models, calibration and validating the process models based on historical datasets
  • Consult the clients with wastewater treatment plant operating strategies
  • Assist the developers with digital tools and solutions parametrisation (digital twins) 
  • Project Delivery 
  • Preparation of reports and presentations 
  • Bi-lateral coordinator with local and global colleagues 
  • Technical report writing 

Qualifications and personal skills 

We are looking for a new colleague who will join us on our quest in solving the world’s water problems and have the following qualifications: 

Required:

  • Chemistry and technology university degree or similar engineering & environmental education (M.Sc. or Ph.D.)
  • Good knowledge of wastewater treatment plant processes (biological, physical-chemical, hydraulics)
  • Good theoretical knowledge of ASM modeling protocols (IWA)
  • Practical modeling skills or willingness to learn modeling
  • Contributes to good cooperation in the team and knowledge-sharing
  • Flexible with regards to traveling (typically 1 day duration)
  • Able to work in English speaking environment (English is company's communication language)

Desirable:

  • Familiar with WEST software or similar modeling software
  • Driving license (B)
  • 2+ years of working experience (however, applications from recent graduates are welcome as well)
