Key Responsibilities

Our Global Business Services center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, supports Asia-Pacific operations and selected global finance processes. You will be part of a friendly and diverse team that strives for excellence, maintains high professional standards, and delivers reliable outcomes for stakeholders.

The Senior General Ledger Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely General Ledger accounting, statutory compliance, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The role provides strong technical accounting support, resolves complex accounting matters, strengthens financial controls, and contributes to the standardisation and continuous improvement of finance processes across the DHI Group.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all General Ledger (GL) entries are booked accurately, on time, and in accordance with local legislation, applicable accounting standards, and DHI internal guidelines.
  • Prepare or support statutory and tax reporting requirements, including VAT, GST, sales tax, income tax, and other applicable regulatory submissions, in coordination with local tax advisers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal and external auditors and relevant stakeholders to support the timely completion of annual audits, statutory reporting, and agreed Group reporting deliverables.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and bank reconciliations, and resolve outstanding items promptly.
  • Ensure costs are accurately allocated to the appropriate departments, projects, business units, and cost centers.
  • Provide technical accounting support and assist with financial and management reporting to the DHI Group.
  • Prepare financial statements, review trial balances, and investigate unusual or aged balances.
  • Use month-end closing and reconciliation tools to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and control of financial close processes.
  • Review accounting systems and procedures and recommend practical improvements, standardisation, and automation opportunities.
  • Participate in the implementation of financial standards and support assigned budgeting and forecasting deliverables.
  • Support cash flow forecasting and payroll accounting, including payroll-related journal entries, reconciliations, and resolution of payroll accounting matters, while maintaining efficient and well-controlled procedures.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Tax, Treasury, and business stakeholders to resolve accounting matters and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to queries, and ensuring agreed actions are completed.
  • Contribute to finance transformation, process documentation, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support finance migration and transition activities, including knowledge transfer, process validation, documentation, testing, issue resolution, and post-go-live stabilisation, to ensure the successful transfer of General Ledger processes into DHI GBS.
  • Prepare, maintain, and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process documentation, work instructions, and control evidence to ensure processes are standardised, current, and audit ready.

Key Performance Metrics

  • Completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities within the agreed reporting calendar.
  • Completion of General Ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and Group reporting within agreed deadlines and quality standards.
  • Timely resolution and escalation of aged reconciling items and accounting queries.
  • Compliance with statutory, tax, regulatory, DHI internal control, and audit requirements.
  • Quality and timeliness of audit schedules and responses, with accurate supporting documentation and timely completion of agreed actions.
  • Achievement of agreed service level agreements (SLAs), reporting deadlines, and operational commitments.
  • Completion of assigned migration deliverables, SOPs, knowledge-transfer activities, testing, and stabilisation actions within agreed project timelines.
  • Effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and support provided to colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Transactional and accounting decisions within assigned responsibilities and in accordance with DHI policies, procedures, and the applicable Limits of Authority (LOA).

Knowledge and Skills

We are looking for a new colleague who has the following qualifications: 

Professional Competencies: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, CIMA, or equivalent) is preferred.

Technical knowledge: 

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and relevant local statutory accounting requirements, with the ability to apply accounting policies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet management, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Maconomy, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar).
  • Familiarity with financial close and reconciliation tools is an advantage.

Breadth of Expertise

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in General Ledger, financial reporting, and Record-to-Report (R2R) processes.
  • Experience in a Shared Services Centre (SSC) or Global Business Services (GBS) environment is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex accounting matters and provide guidance or coaching to colleagues.
  • Experience managing audits, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and financial controls.
  • Practical experience supporting finance process migrations or transitions into an SSC or GBS environment, including knowledge transfer, process validation, testing, documentation, issue resolution, and post-go-live stabilisation, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and maintaining SOPs, process maps, work instructions, and control documentation.
  • Exposure to finance transformation, process improvement, or automation initiatives is an advantage.
