Senior Ports Engineer - Malaysia (KL or KK)

DHI provides a wide range of ports services for our customers. These are based around our MIKE by DHI software and include:

• Assessment of metocean conditions for use in port design
• Port development feasibility studies including assessment of port layout, modelling of hydrodynamic and wave conditions within the port and downtime assessments
• Dynamic mooring assessments
• Sedimentation studies
• Provision of digital services to support port operations using our award winning NCOS software including metocean forecasts, channel transit planning and safe mooring

Responsibilities and challenges

DHI is seeking a motivated and dedicated Senior Port Engineer with a strong background in port engineering and / or coastal engineering to execute marine and ports projects. The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are:

• Provide port engineering leadership and management for Malaysia and international marine and port projects with a team of DHI port and coastal engineers, numerical modellers and scientists
• Take a proactive business development role to develop our ports business in South East Asia
• Liaise with DHI clients to foster existing and new relationships for the DHI ports business unit
• Manage complex and technically challenging projects that are multidisciplinary in nature
• Preparation of technical documentation, reports and presentation materials
• Provide mentorship and technical training to junior staff
• Act as a senior technical reviewer
• Preparation of technical proposals for existing and/or new DHI clients and accounts. 

Skills and qualifications

• MSc. or PhD in Ports/Coastal/Marine/Offshore engineering, Meteorology, Oceanography, or related science areas
• Minimum 15 years’ of relevant work experience with strong educational background
• Strong project management skills
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Experience with port and coastal numerical modelling is an advantage

Office location

You will be located in either our Kuala Lumpur or Kota Kinabalu office.
