Are you keen to work at the nexus of digital water solutions and wastewater treatment process engineering? If you like to think outside the box and bring an open mind to each problem, if you enjoy being trusted to work independently, and if you really want to get involved in helping WWTPs reduce GHG emissions and achieve energy neutrality, then we’d like you to keep reading.
At DHI, our mission is to enable the sustainability and resiliency of our communities and water-related ecosystems for future generations.. From source to tap, from treatment to receiving waters, from coast to coast, above ground and below – where ever there are water problems – DHI has the people, technologies and global footprint to deliver the required expertise and solutions.
In DHI's wastewater treatment unit, we provide consulting, automation, and digital services based on in-depth domain knowledge and expertise in wastewater, and these services are supported by our advanced software tools. Our team has developed one of the world’s leading digital twin solutions (TwinPlant) for automating and optimizing wastewater treatment plant operations. As the global market for digital solutions continues to evolve, the response from our clients has been enthusiastic, and our backlog of projects continues to grow. We now find ourselves in the position where we need to bring in another wastewater process optimization, automation, and modelling specialist to develop and implement strategies that help our clients run their wastewater treatment plants more efficiently.
This is a remote work position but, if you live in Vancouver or Denver (or if you want to relocate to these cities), you are welcome to work from the office. While the successful candidate will ideally be located in USA or Canada, we will also consider applications from New Zealand and Australia. You will work as part of our Americas Water in Cities project implementation and business development team with a wide range of responsibilities and challenges.
Responsibilities and Challenges
- Value Engineering: plant-process evaluation, process modeling, and scenario analysis to quantify benefits and payback period for investments in optimization opportunities for WWTPs.
- Advanced Controls: design, test, and implement advanced control strategies and algorithms on an optimization platform that communicates with plant SCADA or DCS databases.
- Digital Solutions: develop and implement digital twins with automated model execution, weather-based influent forecasting, and model-based optimization and scenario-analysis tools.
- Technology & Solution Development: participate in technology development and R&D projects, often in collaboration with external partners, with a focus on ML and generative AI.
- Project Management: administer and manage own projects.
- Business Development: drive growth, lead technical workshops with utility owners and stakeholders, visit and develop relationships with existing and potential clients, participate in trips to Denmark led by the Water Technology Alliance with a delegation of US-based utility owners.
- Proposal Support: develop scope in collaboration with clients and write proposals.
- Dissemination & Development: learn and grow on your own career path through participation in events, projects, training, and conferences such as WEFTEC.
- Collaboration: our work is only possible through close collaboration with clients, operators, internal experts, partner companies, and other business units within DHI.
- Outside of Wastewater: at DHI, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledgebase through active participation in projects for other departments.
- Travel: occasional (20-25 days/yr) domestic and international plant visits, conferences, sales, and other trips.
