Environmental Consultant (Ecology)
DHI is a global leader in solving the toughest water, climate, and biodiversity related challenges. We seek a confident, outgoing, organized, and self-motivated environmental professional to help drive our environmental projects forward. The role will be to project manage and provide technical environmental solutions to our clients. The role will involve running several environmental projects at a time and interfacing with clients on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for someone who can start soon.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake technical work as an ecologist for biodiversity and environmental impact assessments, environmental management and monitoring, habitat restoration, and other environmental studies.
- Manage or contribute to ecological monitoring and assessment projects, lead and undertake field surveys, monitoring and sample collection for biological and physicochemical parameters for a wide range of coastal, marine and terrestrial environmental projects; periodic weekend work as well as occasional overseas travel in the Asia Pacific region may be required
- Assist with other applied research activities, compilation and analysis of various survey and monitoring data
- Prepare technical reports and proposals, e.g. Environmental Impact Assessments
- Support in administrative tasks and duties
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and share knowledge with colleagues.
Education and Experience
- Minimum Degree in Environmental/Life Sciences or related discipline
- Post-graduate degree in Marine Biology / Science, Oceanography, Ecology, Life Sciences, or related discipline is an advantage
- Prior experience in ecological field sampling methods, scientific writing and statistical analysis of data
- Minimum three years of relevant experience
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience on working in tropical ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation and management issues
- Physically capable and medically fit to work long hours in the field or at sea in a variety of conditions
- Attention to detail with good verbal, planning, analytical and writing skills, presentation and communication competencies
- Ability to work well independently under pressure, or as part of a team, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with multiple projects, stakeholders and frequent deadlines
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
- Basic knowledge of statistics
- Good cooperative interpersonal skills working with a wide range of colleagues of diverse backgrounds
- Self-motivated, creative, energetic, willing to learn new skills, and a keen interest in marine conservation and research
- Ability to work flexibly in response to project needs including willingness to travel
The seniority of the role will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and expertise.
