Responsibilities and challenges
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to strengthen our software engineering capabilities. You will work on designing and delivering a digital solution that will ensure the discharge of hazardous substances into the Danish waters are in accordance with environmental quality requirements. You will be doing a difference for a cleaner Denmark.
You will be part of a collaborative and international team of developers, product owners, UX’ers, and domain experts, working closely together, based onsite in Denmark)
The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are:
- Design, develop a backend applications using.NET technologies (you will be the lead developer through out the project)
- Contribute to architecture and technical design of the solution
- Build and optimize REST APIs and microservices
- Ensure high software quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance and stability issues
- Collaborate closely with local and international colleagues across disciplines
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing
- Support continuous improvement of development processes and tools
Qualifications and personal skills
We are looking for a new colleague who will join us in developing digital solutions for water and environmental challenges and who has the following qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience in backend development
- Strong expertise in C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core
- Experience with:
- REST APIs and microservices architecture
- SQL and database design/optimization
- ORM frameworks (e.g. Entity Framework Core)
- Unit and integration testing
- GitHub
- working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Solid understanding of
- Software architecture and design principles
- Performance, scalability, and memory management
- Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to document technical solutions clearly
Nice to have:
- Experience with:
- Event-driven architectures (e.g. RabbitMQ, MediatR)
- Real-time applications (e.g. SignalR)
- Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Cloud platforms (e.g. Azure)
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Hands-on experience using AI agents in software development tasks such as code generation, testing, and CI/CD workflows.
- Familiarity with:
- External API integrations
- Spatial data (GIS tools such as PostGIS or QGIS)
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python)
