Student assistant for UN Environment Programme DHI Centre

UNEP-DHI Centre is currently looking for a part time Student Assistant with a strong communications profile. You will lead the implementation of our communication plan, working as a core member of the UNEP-DHI team in Denmark, while collaborating with an international team of colleagues based in United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Headquarters in Nairobi. No travel is expected as part of your role.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Student Assistant to support implementation of the Centre’s communications
plan. Your tasks will include:
- Developing website and social media content, including drafting of news articles, in close collaboration with the technical team
- Managing our social media accounts
- Represent UNEP-DHI at UNEP’s online communication meetings
- Keeping track of- and analysing outreach statistics
- Assisting with research, analysis and other ad-hoc tasks in support of our global team (e.g. on integrated water resources management, climate change, SDGs, marine litter and plastic pollution, nature-based solutions issues)
- Preparation of figures, graphs, and other visual outreach materials on an ad hoc basis
- Support to outreach events on an ad hoc basis
Qualifications and personal skills:
Our new colleague will join our mission to improve the management, development and use of freshwater resources from the local to the global level, with a focus on increasing the visibility and outreach of our work. The ideal candidate will recognise themselves in the following qualifications:
Required:
- Exceptional skills in written and verbal English
- Proficiency with MS Office programmes – Word, Excel, Outlook
- Currently enrolled in a Danish University
Desirable:
- Knowledge of WordPress, Canva and/or Trello is a strong advantage
- Previous work experience within the area of communications is highly desirable
- Familiarity with the environmental, water resources management of climate issues is an advantage
- Fluency in Spanish, French or another official UN language is an advantage
Personal Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with service-oriented attitude
- Structured and proactive mindset with an ability to organize own work tasks and be a driving force for the comms strategy implementation

Office location and conditions
The student assistant position is part time, approximately 20 hours per week. The successful candidate will start in August 2025 and work over a minimum of 3-4 months. This position is based at DHI Headquarters in Hørsholm, 25km north of Copenhagen. Work from home to a limited extent is possible, subject to agreement.
